At this year's Women's History Month Celebration Linda Rock will give a presentation about Jane Peterson. Born and raised in Elgin, Peterson was one of the foremost women artists in the U.S. in the first half of the 20th century. Critically and popularly acclaimed, her paintings hang in museums across the country, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Museum of Women in the Arts and the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum.

When Impressionism/Expressionism was supplanted by abstract movements, Peterson's name faded from prominence until 2018, when a Connecticut museum's retrospective of her work returned her again to the public eye. Linda Rock's presentation will showcase not only many of Peterson's paintings but also the life of a fascinating woman.
